International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) was created in 1944
to promote the safe and orderly development of international civil aviation throughout the world..
to sets standards and regulations necessary for aviation safety, security, efficiency and regularity, as well as for aviation environmental protection.
The Organization serves as the forum for cooperation in all fields of civil aviation among its 191 Member States and India is one of the contracting state.
Working of ICAO:-
The constitution of ICAO is the Convention on International Civil Aviation, drawn up by a conference in Chicago in November and December 1944, and to which each ICAO Contracting State is a party.
According to the terms of the Convention, the Organization is made up of an Assembly, a Council of limited membership with various subordinate bodies and a Secretariat. The chief officers are the President of the Council and the Secretary General.
